Wall Street Closed for Juneteenth

U.S. stock markets Nasdaq and NYSE shut on June 19, reopening June 20.

The U.S. bond market is also closed, affecting banks and the postal service.

"Juneteenth, known as America's Second Independence Day, has been a federally-recognized holiday since 2021."

The day marks Union troops' arrival in Texas in 1865, freeing 250,000 enslaved Black people.

Next market closure: July 4, Independence Day.

  • Independence Day: July 4 (close at 1 p.m. ET on July 3)
  • Labor Day: Sept 2
