McDonald's Launches $5 Meal Deal, Amid Criticism Over Surging Prices

"We heard our fans loud and clear [...] Value has always been part of our DNA [...] It's imperative that we continue to keep affordability at the forefront." – Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald's USA

From June 25, McDonald's is offering a $5 Meal Deal at participating restaurants. This comes as a response to fan backlash over rising fast-food prices.

The deal includes a McDouble or McChicken, 4-piece McNuggets, small fries, and a small drink. App users also get free medium fries on Fridays with a $1 min. spend. Various franchises are offering local deals too, like Memphis' BOGO $1 breakfast.

CEO Chris Kempczinski reiterated the focus on affordability: "It's imperative we keep affordability at the forefront."
