CDK Global Hit by Ransomware Attack, Demanding Tens of Millions in Ransom

A group has claimed responsibility for the cyberattack on software company CDK Global, demanding tens of millions of dollars in ransom, according to a Bloomberg report. CDK, a leading provider of cloud-based software to car dealerships in North America, has stated they intend to pay, but discussions remain fluid. The hackers are believed to be based in Eastern Europe.

"Out of continued caution and to protect our customers, we are once again proactively shutting down most of our systems," - CDK in a letter to customers.

The cyber outage has entered its third day, affecting software management tools and disrupting operations at car dealerships across the US. CDK shut down its systems on Wednesday, restoring some later that day, only to shut them down again following another attack. The company has not provided an estimated timeframe for resolution.
