Central Texas Brace for Soaring Temperatures, No Rain in Sight

Dry Week Ahead, with Heat Index Regularly Exceeding 100 Degrees

The Central Texas forecast predicts a dry week with soaring temperatures and heat indexes regularly exceeding 100 degrees. While daily highs fall shy of triple digits, the National Weather Service warns of a peak at 98 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, with heat indexes of 109 and 108 respectively.

"We're going to be close to heat advisories a couple of days throughout the week... You're going to want to take normal hot-weather precautions, like drinking plenty of water and wearing light-colored clothing,"
-- Christopher Morris, National Weather Service Meteorologist.

In June 2023, Austin baked in 100-degree heat for 15 days, yet this year has seen no days above that mark, with temperatures peaking at 99 degrees three times.
