71-year-old Makes History as Oldest Contestant in Miss Texas USA

Marissa Teijo, 71, of El Paso, made history as the oldest contestant in the Miss Texas USA pageant over the weekend. Teijo said she was motivated to "chase her dreams" after competing against 100 other women.

Teijo, who didn't walk away with the crown, is proud to inspire others to break barriers, regardless of age. The Miss Universe organization lifted age restrictions, allowing for a more inclusive competition. Teijo's agency, Bazaar Models, shares her pride in representing diverse women.

The winner of Miss Texas USA was Aarieanna Ware. She will represent Texas in the Miss USA competition on August 4 in Hollywood.
