Man's Body Recovered from Lake Travis, No Foul Play Suspected

A man in his 70s was found dead in Lake Travis on Sunday, the Travis County Sheriff's Office said. The body was recovered from a cove near Lago Vista, and officials have ruled out criminal activity.

  • A 911 call reported a missing man, last seen Saturday afternoon near Arkansas Bend Park.
  • Deputies responded, and witnesses stated the man was using a scooter in the water without a life vest.
  • Multiple agencies assisted in the search, including Texas Parks and Wildlife, Lake Travis firefighters, and the Lower Colorado River Authority.
  • The search became a recovery effort by Saturday evening, resuming at sunrise on Sunday with extensive resources.
  • The body was found in 29 feet of water in the cove where he went missing; the cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.

The sheriff's office is encouraging all Lake Travis patrons to wear a life vest.
