One dead and one critical after drowning incident in San Joaquin River.

Fresno County, CA - A tragic drowning incident has left one person dead and another fighting for their life after they were rescued by a Good Samaritan on Sunday.

At 4 p.m. on Sunday, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office and EMS responded to an emergency call at Skaggs Bridge Park, Kerman, CA. A man had been pulled from the San Joaquin River and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

In a brave effort, a fellow swimmer took it upon himself to save the struggling man, ensuring he made it to shore.

Two Men, Unable to Swim

First responders were then alerted to a second person missing in the river. The Sheriff's Department dive team recovered the body of the second man at 7 p.m. that evening.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Office stated:

"Neither man knew how to swim nor was wearing a life jacket."
