Rapidan Dam in Imminent Failure Condition, Says Blue Earth County Government

The Rapidan Dam in Blue Earth County, Minnesota is in an "imminent failure condition", according to an official Facebook post by the county government. The post states that:

"We do not know if it will totally fail or if it will remain in place, however, we determined it was necessary to issue this notification to advise downstream residents and the correct regulatory agencies and other local agencies."

The dam is being monitored by various county departments, and two nearby bridges may be closed due to potential debris. The Rapidan Dam was constructed between 1908 and 1910 and measures about 475 feet in length.

Plains States Continue to Face Flood Threats and More Rain

Communities across the northern and central Plains remain under threat of rising rivers and more rain is forecast for the week. Last week, parts of the region received a month's worth of rain in 48 hours, according to AccuWeather.

"So much rain has fallen...that multiple rivers are on the rampage," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.
