71-Year-Old Makes History at Miss Texas USA

Marissa Teijo, 71, of El Paso, became the oldest contestant in the Miss Texas USA pageant this weekend. Although she didn't win, Teijo is proud to have competed against 100 other women, saying it motivated her to chase her dreams.

"I feel that all women now have a new stage of opportunity, strength and beauty.”

The Miss Universe organization has lifted age restrictions, allowing women of all ages, marital statuses, and life experiences to compete. Teijo's agency, Bazaar Models, shares her sentiment, celebrating the representation of diverse women.

Miss Texas USA 2024 is Aarieanna Ware. She will represent Texas at Miss USA on August 4 in Hollywood.

Texas Tops in Miss USA Winners

Pageant Planet reports that Texas has produced the most Miss USA winners, with 10 queens claiming the national title. California comes second with six, followed by New York, Hawaii, and Illinois with four each.
