Tesla Recalls Thousands of Cybertrucks in the US

Tesla is recalling approximately 11,688 Cybertrucks in the US due to issues with windshield wipers and exterior trim, according to the NHTSA. This is the fourth recall since the Cybertruck's launch in November 2023.

Windshield Wiper Recall

  • Affected Models: All 2024 Cybertrucks (approx. 11,688)
  • Manufacture Dates: Nov. 13, 2023 - June 6, 2024
  • Issue: Windshield wiper motor controller malfunction due to excessive electrical current.
  • Consequences: Impaired visibility and increased risk of crash.
  • Solution: Tesla will replace the wiper motor at no cost to owners. Notifications to owners will be sent out on Aug. 18.

Exterior Trim Recall

  • Affected Models: 11,383 Cybertrucks
  • Manufacture Dates: Nov. 13, 2023 - May 26, 2024
  • Issue: Loose applique on the exterior trim can detach and create a road hazard.
  • Consequences: Increased risk of crash for following motorists.
  • Solution: Tesla will notify owners and provide a free repair.

No incidents have been reported as of Tuesday related to these recalls.
