Tesla Recalls Thousands Of Cybertrucks Over Safety Issues

Tesla is facing yet another recall, this time over faulty windshield wipers and exterior trim in its Cybertruck vehicles, impacting over 11,000 trucks in the US. This is the fourth recall since the Cybertruck's release in November 2023, raising further concerns about the company's quality control and commitment to safety.

Windshield Wiper Recall:

  • All 2024 Cybertruck vehicles (approx. 11,688 trucks) manufactured between Nov. 13, 2023, and June 6 are affected.
  • The issue: Front windshield wiper motor controller malfunction due to excessive electrical current, impairing visibility and increasing crash risk.
  • NHTSA report: Safety Recall Report
  • Tesla's solution: The company will replace the wiper motor at no cost to owners. Notifications to affected owners will be sent out by letter on Aug. 18. (Tesla recall number: SB-24-17-006)

Exterior Trim Recall:

  • 11,383 Cybertruck vehicles manufactured between Nov. 13, 2023, and May 26 are affected.
  • The issue: A loose applique on the exterior trim can detach, creating a road hazard for following motorists and increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Tesla's solution: Recalling affected vehicles. (Tesla recall number: SB-24-12-006)

As of Tuesday, no reported incidents have been tied to either of the recalls.

Customers concerned about their Cybertruck can contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752.

In other Tesla news, Elon Musk has announced that the company will unveil its long-awaited robotaxi this summer, on Aug. 8.
