Windshield Wiper Motor Malfunction Poses Risk of Crash

Tesla is recalling over 11,000 Cybertrucks in the U.S. due to issues with windshield wipers and exterior trim, the fourth such recall since its release in Nov. 2023.

Windshield Wiper Recall:

  • All 2024 Cybertrucks (approx. 11,688) made between Nov. 13, 2023, and June 6 are affected.
  • The issue: the front wiper motor controller can malfunction due to excess electrical current, impairing visibility and increasing crash risk.
  • Fix: Tesla will replace the wiper motor for free. Owners will be notified by letter on Aug. 18.

Exterior Trim Recall:

  • 11,383 Cybertrucks made between Nov. 13, 2023, and May 26 are affected.
  • Issue: A loose applique can detach, creating a road hazard and increasing crash risk.
  • Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-12-006.

As of Tuesday, no incidents have been reported tied to either recall.

Meanwhile, CEO Elon Musk has announced the company will unveil its self-driving robotaxi on Aug. 8.
