Glen Powell Breaks Free of Hollywood, Returns to Texas Roots

Actor Glen Powell discusses his recent move from LA to Austin, citing a need to break out of the Hollywood bubble and its toll on mental health.

"When all you do is consume movies and entertainment, you could become a little self-aware and maybe derivative of yourself. Your personal life, there's no sort of freedom there, there's storytelling around that, and I feel like that's just not good for you on the long term."

Returning to Texas, Powell is embracing time with family, better meat, and his induction into the Texas Film Hall of Fame.

His parents, who still live in Austin, attended the May premiere of "Hit Man", holding signs saying "stop trying to make Glen Powell happen" to keep their son humble.

Powell on Texas: "There's better meat in Texas than there is in California, that's for sure."

His rescue dog, Brisket, and his recent induction into the Texas Film Hall of Fame further tie Powell to the state and Austin, specifically.
