Woman Hospitalized After Wolf Attack at French Zoo

A 37-year-old woman was mauled by wolves while jogging in an area of the zoo that is reportedly restricted to vehicles.

A woman was hospitalized after being attacked by wolves at a zoo near Paris. The incident occurred at the Wow Safari Thoiry, a zoo and safari park located ~31 miles from the city.

The woman, who was staying at the zoo's accommodations, was jogging in an area where animals roam freely and was attacked by three wolves, sustaining injuries to her neck, calf, and back. She was rescued after her cries for help were heard and taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Maryvonne Caillibotte, public prosecutor in Versailles, commented on the injuries but did not specify how the woman entered the enclosure, telling AFP,

"She has injuries in the neck, calf and back."

The zoo, established in 1968, is home to 1,500 animals and offers stays to observe Arctic wolves, as noted on their website.
