MTV Deletes News Archives, Erasing Music Journalism History

MTV has deleted the archives of MTV News, removing decades of music journalism from the internet. Links to mtvnews.com and mtv.com/news now redirect to MTV's homepage, as reported by Variety. The music channel's news operation, founded in 1996, was shut down in 2023 due to layoffs by parent company Paramount, which cut 25% of jobs across its subsidiaries.
