Cell Service Outage Impacting Travelers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

A major cell service outage hit Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on Thursday, affecting AT&T and T-Mobile users. The airport advised passengers to print or screenshot their boarding passes beforehand, as cell service and calling capabilities were down. In case of an emergency, the airport advised users to use the white landline phones available at the airport for assistance.

Lesly Ramirez, a public information officer for the Austin airport, attributed the issue to an "AT&T circuit failure," with no initial estimate on when services would be restored.

"We are working with the carriers to resolve the issue as soon as possible," she said.

T-Mobile released a statement claiming that the issue stemmed from a third-party vendor, impacting several providers and international roaming services intermittently. AT&T acknowledged the issue and is looking into it.
