Voter rolls in Michigan only reflect the number of registered voters who are 18 or older, not the state's total population, which includes children under 18.

Fake Facebook posts claim 105% of Michigan residents are registered to vote

Facebook posts claim "105% Of the population of Michigan is registered to vote." While there are more people registered to vote in Michigan than the number of citizens over the age of 18, this false statement compares voter registration numbers to the total population of Michigan, including children and non-citizens.

Michigan state law requires clerks to keep inactive voters—people who haven't voted in six years or changed their addresses—on voter rolls for multiple federal election cycles before removing them. This results in a larger number of registered voters than eligible voters.
