Biden and Trump to Face Off in First 2024 Presidential Debate

President Joe Biden and presumptive Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, are set for their first debate in Atlanta. Both come with recent entanglements with the law; Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts in May, while Biden's son, Hunter, was recently convicted on federal gun charges, with more trials pending.

The Hunter Biden Trial:

Biden was convicted on three charges relating to a 2018 gun purchase, including two counts of making a false statement and one count of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user. He faces up to 25 years in prison. A previous plea deal fell through, and Biden will stand trial on separate tax charges in California this September.

President Biden, in an ABC News interview, said he would not pardon his son and would accept the trial outcome. After the verdict, he reiterated his love and support, respecting the judicial process.

Debate Details:

The first presidential debate, hosted by CNN's Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, is scheduled for Thursday, 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on CNN and USA TODAY's YouTube channel.
