A recent social media claim that 40,000 people in Houston, Texas were diagnosed with STDs the week of June 9 is false. A Houston Department of Health spokesperson said the numbers represent tests conducted, not positive diagnoses, and include data for the entire state of Texas. CDC data showed no reported cases of chlamydia, syphilis, or gonorrhea in Texas for that week, debunking the false claim that spread across Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
