Hurricane Beryl Targets Caribbean with 'Life-Threatening' Winds

MIAMI — The National Hurricane Center warned that Hurricane Beryl, the first hurricane of 2024, is expected to hit the Windward Islands early Monday, bringing "life-threatening" winds and a storm surge.

As of Sunday morning, Beryl was a Category 3 storm, and the center predicted it would become a "major" hurricane by Monday. The storm threatens the following islands:

• Dominica
• Martinique
• Saint Lucia
• Saint Vincent
• Grenada
• The Grenadines
• Trinidad and Tobago
• Barbados
