Teen Cancer Victim Becomes First Millenial Saint

Blessed Carlo Acutis is the first Millennial saint recognized by the Catholic Church. Acutis, who died of leukemia in 2006, used his tech skills to spread his faith.

Acutis was beatified in 2020, and on Monday, the College of Cardinals voted for his canonization. He will officially be declared a saint in 2025.

Who was Acutis?

An Italian teen born in London in 1991, Acutis considered becoming a priest before his illness took his life. Known as "God's influencer," two medical miracles have been attributed to him.

Miracles

A student in Florence who suffered severe head trauma after a bicycle accident was expected to die. Her mother visited Acutis' tomb, and her daughter made a miraculous recovery.

Sainthood

According to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, saints are "persons in heaven who lived heroically virtuous lives and are worthy of imitation."
