Original Buc-ee's Location Catches Fire During Demolition

The original Buc-ee's in Luling, Texas, caught fire during its demolition on Monday. This sparked rumors online, especially with the new "world's largest" Buc-ee's opening just three weeks ago nearby.

Cause of Fire Unknown

"They were in the process of demolition and using the excavators when something started the fire," Luling Deputy Fire Chief Keith Lohse stated. "There was no power or gas hooked up to the building. All utilities were off at the time. We don’t know what happened, but it appears they may have struck something and it ignited."

No damage was reported to the new location, per the Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management.

The original Buc-ee's, which opened in 2003, ignited the brand's success, leading to 49 locations across nine states. Texas takes the lead with 35 stores, including the new "world's largest" in Luling. Buc-ee's also boasts the world's longest car wash in Katy, Texas, at 255 feet.
