Buc-ee's Fire During Demolition

The original Buc-ee's in Luling, TX, caught fire during its demolition on Monday. With the new "world's largest" Buc-ee's opening nearby just weeks ago, speculation spread on social media.

"They were in the process of demolition and using the excavators when something started the fire... We don’t know what happened, but it appears they may have hit something and it ignited." Luling Deputy Fire Chief Keith Lohse, per the Gonzales Inquirer

The fire's cause remains unknown, with all utilities disconnected. The new location sustained no damage.

The Luling Buc-ee's, which opened in 2003, sparked the brand's expansion to 49 locations in nine states, with 35 in Texas. Buc-ee's boasts the largest convenience store and longest car wash globally.
