Illinois Woman Discovers $1 Million Lottery Win
An Illinois woman's trip to Walmart resulted in a life-changing discovery: a $1 million lottery win.
Pamela Arscott, of Franklin Park, Illinois, struck gold with a $10 Celebration Instant Ticket scratch-off. In a twist of fate, Arscott almost forgot about the ticket, only remembering it the next morning.
"I started scratching the ticket and saw I had a matching number for a million dollars," Arscott told Illinois Lottery officials. "I thought it was a mistake... I immediately woke up my daughter. I told her to run out to the store to scan it to double-check and make sure it's real."
The winning ticket was purchased at a Walmart in Addison, Illinois, which will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling it. Arscott, a mother of five with 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, lost her husband of 49 years recently. She believes this windfall is a "blessing from him."
