Stamp Prices Set to Rise, USPS Hikes Rates

Stamp prices are set to rise across the United States as the USPS implements its 10-year " Delivering for America" plan.

From July 14, the price of first-class Forever stamps will jump over 7%, from 68 cents to 73 cents. This is on top of a 7.5% increase across all other services.

Forever stamps were 55 cents when the plan was introduced in 2021.

With first-class mail accounting for over 30% of postal revenue in 2023, the USPS expects the price hikes to generate $44 billion in additional revenue by 2031.

What else is changing?

  • The extra ounce for single-piece letters will now cost 28 cents, up from 24 cents.
  • Post office box rental fees remain unchanged, but postal insurance costs will decrease by 10%.
  • International postcards and 1-ounce letters will also increase by 10 cents, to $1.65.
