Postal Service Hikes Stamp Prices by 7% as Part of 10-Year Plan to Generate $44 Billion

The U.S. Postal Service is set to increase the price of first-class Forever stamps from 68 cents to 73 cents on July 14, a jump of more than 7%. This move is part of the USPS's 10-year " Delivering for America" plan aimed at financial stabilization, with a target of generating an additional $44 billion by 2031.

First-class mail accounted for over 30% of postal revenue in 2023, and the price hikes won't stop at stamps. While post office box rental fees will remain the same, and postal insurance costs will drop by 10%, the additional-ounce price for single-piece letters will go up to 28 cents, and international postcards and letters will increase by 10 cents each.

The proposed price increases do not include USPS Ground Advantage, or Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express services.

Texans can purchase stamps at any of the state's 1,655 USPS post offices, or online at USPS.com.
