Ticketmaster Hacked, User Data Up for Sale

Ticketmaster has confirmed a data breach with notices to customers and a support document on their website. An "unauthorized third party" accessed a cloud database between April 2 and May 18, accessing users' personal information.

This includes email addresses, phone numbers, and possibly more than 1,000 customers. PC Mag reports the hacking group ShinyHunters claimed to have stolen 1.3TB of data.

The breach affects North American customers, with Ticketmaster offering identity monitoring services through TransUnion. The company states that those not notified are likely unaffected.

Lawsuit

A lawsuit has been filed in California, alleging Ticketmaster and Live Nation failed to secure personal information, including full names, addresses, emails, phone numbers, ticket sales data, and partial payment card data. The data was listed on the dark web for $500,000, with the last four digits of card numbers and expiration dates exposed, according to the suit.

Live Nation confirmed a "criminal threat actor" attempted to sell the data.

User Action

Ticketmaster recommends customers monitor their credit and bank accounts for suspicious activity and enroll in TransUnion identity monitoring within 90 days of the notice.
