Viva Raw cat/dog food recalled over listeria fears
FDA: Avoid Viva Raw products from Lot 21244 due to potential listeria contamination.

A #NorthCarolina company, Viva Raw LLC, is recalling certain #raw #petfood products due to potential #listeria #contamination. The recall includes five products made for dogs and cats:
- Viva Turkey for Dogs Ground
- Viva Turkey for Dogs Chunked
- Viva Turkey for Cats
- Viva Pure Turkey
- Viva Beef & Turkey for Puppies
These products were shipped nationwide in frozen 1-pound bricks, and all are part of Lot 21244.
"[Listeria monocytogenes] can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in pets who eat contaminated products," the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in a statement. "There is a risk to humans ... who handle contaminated pet products."
No illnesses related to this recall have been reported as of Monday.
Customers with the recalled products should:
- "Dispose of the product in a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it."
- "Wash hands and sanitize countertops, utensils, and any other surfaces that may have touched the recalled product."
- "Contact Viva Raw for further instructions to receive a refund."
