What's open, closed July 4?

All government offices are closed for the day, including post offices.

If you're planning a July 4 gathering, it's best to get your shopping done ahead of time. Most banks and postal services will be closed, and delivery services will be limited.

Are banks open on July 4?
No, banks will be closed. This includes Capital One, Bank of America, PNC, Truist, CitiBank, and JPMorgan Chase.

Is the post office open? Will mail be delivered?
Federal, state, and local government offices, including post offices, will mostly be closed. There will be limited mail delivery. Public libraries and the DMV will also be shut.

You can still order stamps and shipping supplies online [https://shop.usps.com/store/home], but pickup may not happen until the next working day. Stamps are also sold at major grocery stores, big box retailers, and some pharmacies, gas stations, and ATMs.

What grocery stores are open?

  • H-E-B, Target, Kroger stores, and Sam's Club: Open regular hours.
  • Costco Wholesale: Closed.

Are UPS and FedEx operating?
UPS and FedEx will not offer their regular pickup and delivery services. Some locations may be closed. However, UPS Express Critical [https://www.ups.com/us/en/resources/ups-service/critical-shipment-services.page] and FedEx Custom Critical [https://customcritical.fedex.com/] are available year-round.
