4th of July Grocery Store Hours: Which Are Open, Which Are Closed?

Consumers can rest easy knowing most grocery chains will remain open for last-minute July 4 supplies.

While banks & USPS close for Independence Day, companies like Walmart, Target, Kroger, & Publix plan to operate with regular hours.

Others, including Trader Joe's & Aldi, will have limited hours. The variations in hours are due to the holiday, so customers should check with their local stores.

  • Walmart: 6 a.m. - 11 p.m.
  • Costco: Closed July 4th
  • Kroger & family stores: Open, varied hours
  • Target: Open, varied hours
  • Trader Joe's: Open until 5 p.m. local time
  • Sam's Club: Plus members: 8-6 p.m.; Club members: 10-6 p.m.
  • Meijer: 6 a.m. - midnight
  • Publix: Regular hours
  • Aldi: Limited hours, varied by location
  • Whole Foods: Open, varied hours
  • Food Lion: Open
  • Winn-Dixie: Regular hours
  • Harris Teeter: Regular hours
  • Giant Eagle: Regular hours; pharmacies: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
