Hurricane Beryl Threatens South Texas

Portions of South Texas are now within the cone of Hurricane Beryl. The Category 4 storm is expected to pass through Jamaica on Wednesday, bringing life-threatening winds and storm surge. Contrary to earlier predictions, current projections estimate Beryl could reach Texas by early Monday, with tropical-storm-force winds arriving as soon as Saturday evening.

"Additional weakening is expected...though Beryl is forecast to remain a hurricane in the northwestern Caribbean."
NHC, July 2nd, 5 a.m. advisory

This weakening may push Beryl's path northwest, into the western Gulf of Mexico, increasing the risk to South Texas.
