US Stock Markets Closing for Independence Day

US stock markets will close early on Wednesday, July 3, and remain closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day holiday.

The Fourth of July marks the anniversary of American independence, as described in a letter by John Adams to his daughter, Abigail. The annual celebration became a regular occurrence after the War of 1812, and Congress made it a federal holiday in 1870.
