Pennsylvania Great-Grandmother Scores $5 Million Lottery Win After Flight Delay

"I was at the airport with my daughter. We were on our way to see family in Florida when the flight got delayed. Well, it was delayed so many times, I decided to go home." — Donna Osborne, lottery winner

Lancaster County resident Donna Osborne, 75, had a stroke of luck when her flight to Florida was delayed multiple times, causing her to return home and purchase a scratch-off lottery ticket worth $5 million. Osborne, a cancer survivor, shared that the win came at an opportune time, as it coincided with her birthday and the conclusion of her radiation treatment.

“I could not believe my eyes! I went back into the store and said, ‘Can you please check this? Is it right or wrong?’ Well, the clerk said, ‘It’s right!’” — Donna Osborne, lottery winner

Osborne, who has been providing transportation for the Amish for decades, has no immediate plans for the windfall but intends to move to a colder climate and invest some of her winnings.

The "MONOPOLY Own It All" scratch-off ticket was purchased at the Speedway on 3180 Oregon Pike in Leola, Pennsylvania.
