Road closures downtown Austin July 4th

Austin is gearing up for Juneteenth festivities with a major gathering at Auditorium Shores and the Long Center. Expect downtown disruptions and road closures as the community gears up to celebrate freedom and Black culture.

Austin celebrates Fourth of July with fireworks and road closures.

One of the biggest celebrations will take place at Auditorium Shores and the Long Center. The event, which features fireworks and the Austin Symphony Orchestra, begins at 4 p.m.

Statement from the City of Austin

Expect the following road closures for the event:

  • Stephen F. Austin Dr @ West Cesar Chavez, 7-10:30pm
  • West Cesar Chavez, Guadalupe to MoPac, 7-10:30pm
  • B.R. Reynolds Dr, West Cesar Chavez to Lamar Blvd, 7-10:30pm
  • Sandra A. Muraida Way, West Cesar Chavez to Lamar Blvd, 7-10:30pm
  • Local traffic only:
    • West Ave, 2nd St to West Cesar Chavez, 7-10:30pm
    • Nueces St, 2nd St to West Cesar Chavez, 7-10:30pm
    • San Antonio St, 2nd St to West Cesar Chavez, 7-10:30pm
  • Guadalupe St, West 4th St to West Cesar Chavez, 7-10:30pm
  • South 1st St, West Cesar Chavez to Barton Springs Rd, 8-10:30pm
  • West Riverside Dr, Lee Barton Dr to South 1st St, 9am-10:30pm
