Hurricane Beryl Targets South Texas, State Braces for Impact

As Hurricane Beryl gains strength, all of Texas is on alert with the storm expected to bring strong winds and heavy rainfall across the state. Entering the Gulf of Mexico, the storm will intensify as it tracks toward northern Mexico and the southern tip of Texas.

Impact by Region:

Brownsville/Rio Grande Valley:

  • 4-8 inches of rainfall predicted
  • Heat indices near 110℉ on Friday
  • Wind gusts of 25-30 mph Friday afternoon
  • Moderate rip current risk Saturday

Austin/San Antonio:

  • Heavy rainfall, likely the main threat
  • Slight chance of isolated storms Friday, increasing Saturday
  • High temperatures near 100℉, heat index 105-110℉
  • Cloud cover may bring some relief

Dallas/Fort Worth:

  • Cold front expected Friday night, relief from heat
  • Low risk of severe weather, including strong gusts
  • 1-3 inches of rainfall expected through Thursday night

Houston/Galveston:

  • Heat advisory continues through Friday, 11th consecutive day
  • Marginal risk of excessive rainfall, potential for another heat advisory
