Beryl Tears Through Texas

Beryl will make her presence known along the Texas coast late on Sunday, with the worst of it making landfall by Monday morning, according to The National Hurricane Center.

Beryl, a former hurricane, is expected to regain strength as it approaches the Texas coast.

As of Saturday morning, Beryl was approximately 495 miles southeast of Corpus Christi, Texas, moving west-northwest at 12 mph.

The National Hurricane Center predicts that Beryl will turn northwest later on Saturday and north-northwest by Sunday night, with the storm's center expected to approach the Texas coast late Sunday into Monday morning.

Hurricane watches are in effect for the Texas coast from San Luis Pass to the Rio Grande and the northeastern coast of mainland Mexico.

Heavy rainfall of 5 to 10 inches, with localized amounts of 15 inches, is expected along the Texas Gulf Coast and eastern Texas from late Sunday through midweek, resulting in flash and urban flooding.
