More than 2,000 pounds of frozen, fully-cooked chicken products are being recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was announced by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) on Friday.

Recall Details:

  • Company: Al-Safa US LLC
  • Amount: 2,010 pounds
  • Products: Various frozen, fully-cooked chicken products (see list below)
  • Problem: Potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination
  • Distribution: Nationwide

Recalled Products:

  • "Al Safa Halal Charcoal Grilled Chicken Seekh Kebab Grilled, Minced, Chicken Patty Kebab" label.
  • "Al Safa Halal Fully Cooked Chicken Chapli Kebab Seasoned Chicken Patty" label.

The products have the establishment number “866” inside the Canadian mark of inspection and were produced on June 5, 2024. Consumers are urged to throw away or return these products.

Listeria monocytogenes is a dangerous bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a serious and sometimes fatal infection. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, and gastrointestinal issues. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

"People in higher-risk categories who experience flu-like symptoms within two months after eating contaminated food should seek medical care," the USDA warned. "< 田中 > do not consume it. Throw it away."

The contamination was discovered through routine product testing. No illnesses have been reported.
