Houston Driver Rescued from Floodwaters

A driver has been rescued by the Houston Fire Department after being stranded on Highway 288 northbound by floodwaters.

Traffic cameras captured the harrowing scene: the individual climbed on top of their vehicle to escape the rising waters, caused by Tropical Storm Beryl's strong winds and heavy rainfall, which have caused widespread disruptions across Houston and Texas' coastal regions.

First responders arrived on the scene around 10:37 a.m. and gave the stranded individual a life jacket. They were then safely lifted out of the water using a rescue ring buoy attached to a fire truck.

The vehicle, belonging to an auto repair company, remains stuck on the highway.
