America's Favorite French Fries? Austin, Texas, Says P. Terry's

The votes are in and Austin, Texas has spoken: P. Terry's serves up the best french fries in town. With over 25% of the total votes, this beloved local chain has won the hearts and taste buds of its readers with their warm, crispy fries served in a paper bag alongside their signature burgers.

"We hope our customers realize that everything we serve is fresh. We start fresh every morning. We don't have freezers, microwaves, or heat lamps."
- Patrick Terry, co-founder of P. Terry's

The secret to their fry success? Simplicity. Liam Davila, the designated "Fry Guy" at P. Terry's, takes us through the process: thin slices of Idaho potatoes soaked in hot water and vinegar, rinsed in ice-cold water, dried, fried for 3 minutes, salted, and served. No fancy ingredients or extra steps needed.

Founded in 2005 by Patrick and Kathy Terry, P. Terry's focuses on fresh, high-quality ingredients with no compromise. They insist on using potatoes from Idaho, harvested once a year in the fall, and stored in climate-controlled conditions. With frequent deliveries of around 600 boxes of potatoes every few days to each location, they ensure a constant supply of fresh spuds.

Patrick Terry emphasizes that their potatoes are cooked in canola oil with no trans fats and no added sugar, staying true to their commitment to health and the original flavor of the potatoes.

USA Today readers in Austin have spoken, and P. Terry's is here to stay, serving up their beloved burgers and fries with a side of local pride.
