Round Rock Juneteenth Shooting: Third Suspect Arrested, Charged with Deadly Conduct

The third suspect arrested in connection with the Round Rock Juneteenth shooting, 18-year-old Keshawn Dixon of Round Rock, is a documented gang member. He was seen on footage firing a Glock handgun multiple times at another suspect, Ricky Thompson, in the vending area of the celebration, according to an arrest affidavit released by police on Friday.

"The altercation at the celebration started because Thompson's rap group, 'Whaa Ent,' had insulted Dixon's rap group, 'Get Money Entertainment,' the affidavit said, adding that 'the disrespect revolved around a member of Get Money Entertainment who had previously been murdered.'"

The shooting resulted in the deaths of two bystanders, Ara Duke and Lyndsey Vicknair, and injuries to 14 others. Dixon has been charged with deadly conduct, a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison, though police have stated that additional charges may be brought against him.

According to the affidavit, multiple witnesses identified Dixon as being present at the scene and "being responsible for the shooting." One witness described seeing Dixon's handgun, equipped with a switch that enables it to fire automatically. This witness also recalled being initially surrounded by Dixon and his friends, but their mother pulled them away. They then saw the group surround Thompson, at which point Dixon began shooting in Thompson's direction.

“[Dixon] started shooting and lost control of his gun,” the witness told police, according to the affidavit.

Police confirmed that the direction of Dixon's gunfire was where most of the victims were located.

Prior to this incident, Dixon already had a significant criminal history, including arrests for three robberies, terroristic threats, assault, and evading arrest, per the affidavit. His most recent arrest in March 2022 was for unlawful carrying and discharging a weapon.

Additionally, police found a post on Dixon's Instagram in which he displayed a Glock with a switch, matching the witness's description.

This tragic event has left the community reeling, and many are calling for justice and increased safety measures to ensure such a senseless loss of life does not occur again.
