Butler, Pennsylvania: Former President Donald Trump has given new details about the moment Secret Service agents rushed him off stage following an assassination attempt at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. In a New York Post interview, Trump said, "The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off. And my shoes are tight."
Details of the Shooting:
- Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire with an AR-15 style rifle from a rooftop ~400 ft. outside the rally, killing one and injuring others, including Trump.
- Trump sustained a graze to his right ear.
- Secret Service agents shielded Trump and escorted him off stage; Trump was insistent on retrieving his shoes.
- Crooks was killed by authorities.
- President Biden denounced the violence, stating: "There's no place in America for this kind of violence or any violence, ever, period, no exceptions...We can't allow this violence to be normalized."
Victims Identified:
- Corey Comperatore, a firefighter from Sarver, PA, an avid Trump supporter and father of two, was killed.
- David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, are in critical condition at Allegheny General Hospital.
Trump reflected on the attempt on his life, stating: "It’s surreal for all of us...I’m supposed to be dead."
