Austin's Foxy Residents

Many Austin, Texas, residents have noticed an increase in fox sightings. Jules Maron, director of Austin Wildlife Rescue, says it's natural this time of year:

"So, just like kittens [...] they want to start poking around and looking at their environment. Mom is actually bringing them a lot of food right now too, and teaching them how to hunt. So I'd say, if you have foxes in your yard, you're very lucky because you're unlikely to have any rodent issues. They are adept hunters."

What to Do if You See a Baby Fox

Maron, a certified wildlife rehabilitator, advises residents to:

"Try to give them some space and know that they're not going to be staying there. If they're orphaned or injured, we'll take them in, but usually, we ask people to leave them and see if mom comes back."
