Kamala Harris: The Next US President?

It seems likely that Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominee for the 2024 election, but can she beat Trump and become the first female president?

...only "the Lord almighty" could convince him [Biden] to step down...

Biden Withdraws, Harris Steps In

Following President Biden's announcement that he will not seek reelection, Harris has quickly gained support from prominent Democrats, including the Clintons. This comes as no surprise, given Biden's performance in the initial debate and the subsequent concerns about his mental health.

Harris' Road to the White House

Harris has officially announced her bid and is the most likely Democratic candidate. However, there are several steps before she becomes the first female president:

  • Endorsements and Delegates: Harris has already gained key endorsements and will need to secure the support of Democratic delegates.
  • Democratic National Convention: She must receive the official nomination by gaining a majority of delegate votes.
  • General Election: Harris goes head-to-head with Trump and other candidates in the election, aiming to win the popular vote.
  • Electoral College: She needs to secure a majority of electoral votes to become President-elect.
  • Inauguration: If successful, Harris will be inaugurated as the first female president on January 20, 2025.

Remaining Candidates:

  • Kamala Harris (Democratic Party)
  • Donald Trump (Republican Party)
  • Jill Stein (Green Party)
  • Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (Independent Democratic Party)
  • Cornel West (Unaffiliated)
  • Chase Oliver (Libertarian Party)

Marianne Williamson (Democrat) is also technically still in the race, but with zero delegates, her chances are non-existent.

The stage is set for a historic election, and Harris is poised to make a serious run at becoming the first female president of the United States.
