Harris is the Likely Democratic Nominee After Receiving Biden's Endorsement

Kamala Harris is now the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination after receiving President Joe Biden's endorsement. Per a USA TODAY count, she's secured enough delegate votes, with the Texas delegation solidifying her lead. Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilbert Hinojosa praised Harris, stating:

"With her extensive experience, dedication to public service, and proven leadership, we believe Kamala Harris is uniquely qualified to defeat Donald Trump and lead our nation forward — championing the values and ideals that unite us as a country."

As the presumptive nominee, Harris will choose her running mate. Speculation mounts on potential Texan candidates, including:

  • Beto O'Rourke: Former U.S. Representative and 2020 presidential candidate. O'Rourke founded Powered by People, a grassroots organization, and has been active on social media.
  • Julián Castro: Served as Obama's Housing Secretary and ran for president in 2020. He offered his support to Harris following Biden's endorsement.
  • Joaquin Castro: Joaquin, Julián's twin, is a U.S. Representative serving on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Intelligence Committee. He expressed support for Harris via X.

With Harris' campaign raising over $81 million in 24 hours, she solidifies her position as the Democratic favorite.
