Exposing Trump's Lies on Harris

Trump calls her a radical left-wing lunatic, claiming she will ruin America

In his first campaign rally since President Biden announced he won't seek re-election, former President Donald Trump attacked his likely general election opponent, Kamala Harris.

"She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country. If she ever gets the chance to get into office."

Trump criticized Harris' positions on immigration, health care, and abortion. We fact-checked four of his claims:

"As border czar, Kamala threw open our borders and allowed 20 million illegal aliens to stampede into our country."

False. Biden tasked Harris with addressing the issues that drive migration from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. Border security remains the DHS secretary's responsibility.

While it's false that the "border is open," immigrant encounters don't equal admissions. During Biden's term, there have been nearly 10 million encounters and 3.3 million people released into the U.S. to await immigration hearings.

"Kamala Harris co-sponsored Bernie Sanders’ $32 trillion plan to take over the entire U.S. health system.”

True. In 2019, Harris co-sponsored Sanders' Medicare for All Act. It would create a national health insurance program run by the Department of Health and Human Services, replacing private insurance.

Harris later focused on bolstering the ACA instead of pushing Medicare for All.

"When asked if her plan would outlaw private health insurance for 180 million Americans, (Harris) replied, ‘Let's just eliminate all of it.’"

Half True. Harris supported eliminating delays and paperwork from private insurance companies, not removing private insurance altogether.

"She wants abortions in the eighth and ninth month of pregnancy, that’s fine with her, right up until birth, and even after birth — the execution of a baby."

False. Harris supports abortion access under Roe v. Wade. Situations resulting in third-trimester abortions are rare. Infanticide is illegal in every U.S. state.
