U.S. Election: 100 Days Away but Ballots to be Cast Soon

Election Day is 100 days away, yet some states will begin accepting ballots much sooner. With Vice President Kamala Harris now the Democratic nominee, the clock is ticking. Meanwhile, Trump has focused his attacks on Harris, after Biden opted out of a rerun. Pennsylvania, a key state, could accept votes in 50 days, just a week after the tentative debate Trump agreed to attend.

Early Voting States:

  • 10 states made absentee ballot applications harder. In Iowa, it costs money.
  • The earliest in-person early voting:
    • California: Oct. 7
    • Illinois: Sept. 26
    • Minnesota: Sept. 20
    • Nebraska: Oct. 7
    • Pennsylvania: Sept. 16
    • Vermont: 45 days before Election Day
    • Virginia: Sept. 20
    • Wyoming: Oct. 8
  • No early voting in Alabama, Mississippi, and New Hampshire, per NCSL.
