Sahara Lounge Shakes Its Way Onto USA TODAY’s Best Bars List

Austin's Sahara Lounge, known for its epic dance parties and eclectic style, has been named one of the best bars in the country by USA TODAY.

"I think what makes Sahara Lounge special...are the ghosts that live in the building," co-owner Topaz McGarrigle said. "[A]ny space that has been a music venue for such a long time starts to have a special mojo in the walls. [The] community...is so warm and the diversity racially and age-wise is super unique."

The bar was selected by USA TODAY Network food journalists, who praised its timelessness and celebration of community and diversity.
