South Korean Company Invests $175 Million in Texas

Taylor, Texas - Soulbrain TX LLC, a South Korean semiconductor materials manufacturer, has announced plans to invest $175 million in a new 60,000-square-foot plant in Taylor, Texas, beginning January 1, 2025.

"Adding [Soulbrain] to our community adds yet another diverse, international company that will expand our tax base and create new jobs for our citizens. Ever since Taylor landed Samsung, we have been working hard to recruit their top suppliers," - Betty Day, Chairperson, Taylor Economic Development Corp.

The plant will produce phosphoric acid, used in semiconductor manufacturing as an etching agent. It will serve Samsung's upcoming $17 billion semiconductor facility, also located in Taylor, a city 30 miles northeast of Austin, which is experiencing rapid growth due to Samsung's investment.

Soulbrain has committed to creating a minimum of 50 jobs and has agreed to several community benefits, including annual civic donations, local internships, and membership in the Taylor Chamber of Commerce.

The first phase of construction will take place at the RCR Taylor Rail Logistics Park, and the company is considering a potential second phase worth $400 million in additional investment.

In exchange, the city has offered a 25% property tax abatement for 10 years per construction phase and a 25% rebate on local use tax for construction materials.

Jon Park, Soulbrain's VP of Technology and General Counsel, expressed excitement about the expansion, praising the City and Economic Development Corporation for their support.

Soulbrain's North American headquarters for lithium-ion R&D and production is in Northville, Michigan.
