Tropical Storm Developing in the Atlantic: Will it Hit Texas?

A tropical wave near the Leeward Islands could develop into a storm with a 50% chance over the next week, says the National Hurricane Center (NHC). While it's too early to tell if Texas will be impacted, Florida may experience effects, with the Gulf of Mexico also at potential risk.

"...it's likely oceans will fully transition into La Niña by fall, bringing with her an 'above-normal' hurricane season in Texas."

La Niña and Hyperactive Seasons

NHC forecasters warn of a potential for a "hyperactive" season with up to 33 named storms, far above the average of 14. La Niña, a climate phenomenon, is expected to bring warmer and drier weather to the southern US, with its counterpart, El Niño, bringing the opposite.
