USA TODAY CAPS YEAR WITH BEST BARS LIST

The USA TODAY Network's food and entertainment writers have declared their favorite bars, showcasing everything from "trendy cocktail lounges to well-worn neighborhood dives."

Unlike other "best bars" lists, this selection isn't a fly-by-night operation. These bars have been frequented and loved by the writers who live in these communities, who have spent "more than a few late nights" at these spots.

The extensive list of nearly 80 nominations was narrowed down by a team of editors and writers to just 30 must-visit bars across the USA TODAY Network's 200 sites in 42 states.
